I am a visual artist based in Detroit, Michigan. My grandmother, an incredible artist in her own right, started teaching me how to draw when I was about five years old. Inspired by her ingenuity and unique approach to the world, I quickly developed an interest in the creative arts, and at a young age began telling everyone “I want to be an artist when I grow up.” In 2005 I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Northern Michigan University.
I’ve worked in a wide variety of media, but painting is my first love. Most of my recent work focuses on landscapes and architecture, much of which references local scenes and businesses around my home state of Michigan. I am inspired by places, intrigued by the character of buildings, awed by the mood of landscapes changing with the seasons, and invited down endless streets of possibility.
And I still want to be an artist when I grow up. Welcome to my journey.
